Swirly Tree has a case of the blues / by debbie rich

I'm working on the newest version of my Swirly Tree, and feeling a little disappointed with the results. Feels like the swirls are too complicated, and the shades of blue are too diverse.

I'll try to simplify by getting rid of the gray-blue (which is Payne's Gray) and homogenizing the other blues to medium tones. If those edits get too complicated then I'll plow ahead and see if the painting can be salvaged. At worst, it'll be — yet another — learning experience. Here's the earlier stage.
